2019 VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS

Volleyball try-outs for the Waxahachie 9th/JV/Varsity Volleyball teams will be held Thursday, Aug. 1 – Friday, Aug. 2nd. To tryout you must have a U.I.L. physical on file. Free physicals for incoming 7-12th grade female athletes will be offered Monday, May 13th, 6:00pm at WHS Turner Gym. The following activities will be included as part of the tryout procedures: 5 X 30 second drills ( w/ 1 ½ min. recovery time) Vertical jump, triple broad jump, agility drills, push- ups. Skill testing. Passing, Setting, Hitting, Serving, Blocking, Digging. Game situations/ Scrimmage. Special consideration to attitude, work ethic, reliability, teamwork, will be taken into consideration. Athletes MUST attend tryouts on Aug. 1-3rd to be part of the team. *Please note that there is a new UIL physical form. Physicals must be done on the revised 2017 form. If you have an injury or illness that prevents you from trying out on the tryout dates please contact Coach Faussett sfaussett@wisd.org The tryout practice schedule will be as follows: Thursday, Aug. 1st 8:00-9:00 Physical testing at Turner Gym (EVERYONE!) 9:00-11:00 9th only 11:00-1:00 JV Tryouts 2:00-4:30 Varsity practice Friday, Aug 2 9:00-11:30 9th /JV Tryouts 9:00-11:00 Varsity Tryouts 1:00-3:30 Varsity Practice//3:00-3:30 equipment issued. ***9th and JV Teams posted at 4:00 (Any parent meeting about tryouts will be scheduled for Monday) Saturday – Aug. 3 7:30-8:00am 9-JV Player meetings and equipment issued. Scrimmage: 10:00 a.m. @ PSA II in Plano ( 9-JV-V ) Meet at Turner Gym 8:00am- wear practice shirt, spandex and green cover shorts. Monday – Aug. 5th 9/JV/V Practice – 3:00-5:00pm (9th-Green Gym, JV- Gray Gym, Varsity- Main Gym) Intrasquad Scrimmages 5:00-6:00 PM – All teams. Parents and fans welcome!
