Early season games are typically warmup games against local teams the Lady Indians will not face during their district competition. Last Tuesday’s game, however, was against a team from Australia, the Aussie Basketball Travelers.
According to their coach, Tim Hall, “This team is made up of girls ages 15 to 23 that have never played together before. They have only been playing together for 10 days.”
Waxahachie was one of the first games for the Traveling Aussie Basketball Travelers on their 19-day schedule in which they will face 10 teams across the United States.
The Lady Indians opened the game leading the Aussies, with the first quarter ending in a 13-13 tie.
At the end of the first half, the Aussies held a 35-27 lead. Although the Lady Indians continued to battle, the game ended as a 47-29 loss.
“They are a good team and played a really good technical game,” Hall said of the Waxahachie team. “I really like a good technical performance rather that a physical contest.”
