Lady Indians bounce back, outkick DeSoto

DESOTO — Angel Garfias recorded her first hat trick of the season, Peyton Renfro added a brace and the Waxahachie Lady Indians bounced back from their first loss of the year to rout DeSoto, 6-0, on Tuesday night.

Brooke Smith chipped in with a goal for the Lady Indians (9-1-1, 2-1), who led only 1-0 at halftime before exploding in the second half. Charley Hearron had two assists and Renfro, Angelica Gutierrez and Sam Hernandez each added an assist.

Liv Epps posted the clean sheet in goal with help from the back line of Kate Kroeger, Kirkland Redic, Katie Walker, Victoria Falcon and Stephanie Mendez.

WHS’ girls were scheduled to host Grand Prairie Young Women’s Leadership Academy on Friday night. They will have an open date on Tuesday and return to action next Friday, visiting Mansfield Summit.

7-6A boys: WHS 2, Cedar Hill 0

The WHS boys opened District 7-6A play with a 2-0 home victory against Cedar Hill on Tuesday in their District 7-6A opener.

The Indians (9-2, 1-0) were scheduled for a Friday night road match at Mansfield Lake Ridge. The Indians will host DeSoto next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
